Activity time!

The other night, I was researching on modules for Jia’s activities.  I’m also considering homeschooling in June (kasi namamahalan ako sa tuition and I really don’t want to send her to school at 3 yrs. Feeling ko ang aga.) so I need to know what stuff I need to teach her. Meanwhile, right now, tuloy lang yung teaching of basics… pre-writing skills, pincer grasp, etc. Basta yung mga OT activities. Prep ko rin ito for later on eh. It will also teach Jia to follow instructions, listen carefully, have a longer attention span, finish a task – basta the things I need to prep her for academic stuff.

I was reading Therapy Street for Kids and was going through the activities for fine motor strength. I wanted to do the coin in the clay pero alam ko hindi na ganun kadami ang Play Doh namin na nakabukas. So I decided to make playdough for Jia. Ang tagal ko nang balak gawin ito . I bought cream of Tartar a few months back but never had the time. So yesterday, while Jia was still sleeping, I made playdough using the normal recipe (the one which needs to be cooked). Super okay yung consistency. I love it! Hindi pa ako mangihinayang na magkahalo halo yung color kasi mura lang (sorry, that’s the kuripot in me).

When Jia got home from Teacher Gen’s class yesterday, I was feeling kinda guilty kasi I had mani-pedi and hair spa that morning and was going to have dinner with fellow coordinators that night so parang wala ako time for Jia. Since I had an hour to spare,  we started na on Jia’s activity hour. Natutuwa ako kasi ang tagal ko nang hindi nakakagawa ng ganitong kahabang activity time. Now, that I only have a couple of weddings left, ang saya kasi may time na ako to really think.

As usual, we started with our opening song which Jia loves!

First, we had the playdough coins. Jia needed to look for a coin hidden in playdough. Then she walked on a rolled up carpet to a chair with her coin bank. That was for balance eh. She had to put the coin inside the coin bank then walk back and get find another coin. She enjoyed this kasi she had fun looking for the coin.

Second, we had a sort of relay. We had printed pictures of animals. I asked her to get a particular animal. Then she had to walk to a string and pin the picture there. Then she had to walk wheelbarrow style back to the pictures. She also enjoyed this kasi dami energy na nalalabas dito eh. :)

Last, we had our art activity. Ngayon lang namin nagawa yung reindeer na gusto ko nang gawin the other day pa. This was so cute. We traced her hands and foot and then used these for the reindeer. For the first time din, aside from cutting, Jia did not need any help from me. Sanay na rin siya sa glue so hindi na kadiri for her (small steps!).

We ended with the song again which ends with a hug!

Saya-saya!

:)
